St. Louis Community College Delivers Consistent Employee Training Across Multiple Campuses

Improves Compliance Rate to 97%

St. Louis Community College (STLCC), the number one community college in the state of Missouri for students continuing their education at a public, four-year institution, has four campuses, two education centers and two workforce training centers with more than 3,600 full-time and part-time employees.

In 2017, St. Louis Community College was looking for an effective way to administer employee training across a multi-campus district. Administrators wanted to ensure that all employees were receiving the compliance training they needed in an efficient and consistent manner.

In addition, administers needed a reliable way to record completions and monitor retention for thousands of employees. Like most institutions, the college has employees that work different shifts and in different locations, making it impossible to implement timely in-person training campus-wide.

After reviewing, and even utilizing, different training systems – STLCC administrators discovered the SafeColleges Online Training System in February of 2017. Since then, their employees have completed over 34,000 training courses, including FERPA: Confidentiality of Records, Discrimination Awareness in the Workplace, General Ethics in the Workplace, and more.

In 2018, STLCC began creating their own custom courses and policies using the course customization tool within the SafeColleges Training System – this allowed campus administrators to easily relay changes in technology, campus policies and new practices to all employees, no matter their location. 

Administrators also had the option to build new courses from scratch or add custom introductions and conclusions to SafeColleges Training courses to make each course specific to the college.

After implementing the SafeColleges Training System campus-wide, STLCC employees are now using the program to meet specific departmental-needs, too. The SafeColleges Client Success Management Team played an important role in this initiative as they walked administrators through the customization process and were always easy to reach, according to Kim Mueller, Learning Development & Training Specialist, at STLCC.
