Sexual Assault Awareness Month: What You Do Today Might Change Someone’s Tomorrow

CINCINNATI, OH – Tuesday, April 16, 2019 – April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a national campaign to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it. Even with the best prevention efforts in place, students, faculty and staff on college and university campuses around the world will become victims of sexual assault and violence. That is why Vector Solutions, the developers of the SafeColleges Training System, is offering a variety of valuable resources to educators and administrators to use on their campus and in their classrooms to change student and employee behaviors regarding sexual assault and violence.

According to recent statistics released by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), sexual assault is a growing and widespread problem:

  • 1 in 2 women have experienced sexual violence other than rape.
  • 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner.
  • 1 in 5 men have experienced sexual violence other than rape.
  • 1 in 67 men have experienced rape or attempted rape.
  • Fewer than 5% of completed or attempted rapes against women in college are reported to law enforcement.
  • An estimated 67.5% of instances of rape go unreported.

At Vector Solutions, we know that each of us plays a vital role in preventing and reducing sexual assault and violence on campus. The resources below are available now for educators and administrators to promote awareness and share critical information to bring real and lasting change on campus.
